December 28th Eli Bissonett and Joey Kenig play a wide variety of instrumental and vocal music with Finnish, Jewish and American roots.  Eli plays the violin; Joey plays the guitar (and sings).  Each brings music from his own ethnic background to the partnership, and together they explore the confluence of these deep and powerful traditional streams.  They are based in Ely, MN, and are available for live performance year-round. January 4th 5-Oh! features Grammy-winning instrumentalist John Ely, master of "surf and twang" Bill Bulinski, and songwriter/bassist/guitarist Rob Mattson. Ely is an alumnus of Asleep at the Wheel, Leon Redbone and a host of Hawaiian music artists in the Waikiki music scene. Bulinski is founder of the Mid-America Music Hall of Fame inducted group, the Electras, and the Greaseballs, whose projects have more than once topped the college radio charts in recent years. Mattson has performed regionally with 42nd Generation, FreshFire, and Fishnixon. 5-Oh!
January 11th No Music This Weekend  
January 18th - 8:00 PM Pushing Chain was formed in 2012 by Boyd Blomberg and Adam Moe. The duo, which has been performing together in various manifestations since 1997, plays roots and Americana music featuring Boyd on guitar and vocals and Adam on the fiddle and vocals. Pushing Chain plays original songs, covers of classic artists like Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and Nina Simone, and some fresh new takes on old folk songs. The duo also features tight harmonies and a gonzo approach which keeps performances fresh and exciting, even if you’ve seen them before.

January 25th Next of Kin, are Sonja Bjordal on guitar and vocals and Lee "Big Country" Martin on the electric slide. The two hail from Duluth, MN playing country, folk and rock covers as well as originals with their own blend of psychedelic folk. It's as sweet as milk and honey!

February 1st Jelloslave, which originally formed as a duo in 2003 by cellists Jacqueline Ultan and Michelle Kinney, has since become an established quartet with the addition of drummer Greg Schutte and Gary Waryan on tablas. February 15th Crafting original music for over 32 years, Greg Tiburzi is a songwriter from Duluth. Inspired by pop radio, American songbook standards, folk, world music and rock from Chuck Berry on. Classical and folk finger picking and strumming styles blend with harmonica to back his songs of loss and redemption, dark journeys, and the fragile nature of the human condition. His sets are peppered with a mix of country, folk, rock, bluegrass and select covers from Rogers and Hart to Elvis, Bob Dylan to Lucinda Williams.

March 8th Stelly and the Snowflakes hail from Duluth and include three former Sweetgrass members. Diane Eck, Anne Fisk and Brian Stelmaszewski have been jamming around Lake Gegoka’s camp fires for many years.  Anne Fisk, rhythm guitar, has been a local folk favorite since her first gig at the Red Lion Bar at age 17.  Brian Stelmaszewski, lead guitar, is best known from his duo work with Stel & Lefty.  Diane Eck, Dixie, Queen of the West End, bass guitar, is the baby musician of the group – taking up the bass about a decade ago.  Their repertoire includes  originals, blues, jazzy favorites mixed up with some sweet harmonies.
